Located in Clifton Hill the "Bunyip" responds to a prominent site and a sensitive context with a sensitive and thoughtful design response which respects the existing neighbourhood character and adds another layer to the rich architectural history of the area.
After being gutted by fire the existing 1860s "farm house" and its unique 1917 piggy back addition, was fully refurbished to provide 6 much needed new social housing units, while the new building at the rear adopted a contemporary design that draw on the "back lane" architecture of the area and, by being set off from the existing house, creates a taught and intense new urban courtyard.
