A modest renovation to an existing timber house, the Newry Street renovation responded to the brief by opening out the existing house to the north, letting in the light and providing sheltered external living spaces beneath a slatted pergola. The renovation provided the opportunity to improve the ESD credentials of the house, through new insulation, the installation of double glazing and solar hot water, water tanks and passive solar design via the pergola and deck to the north.
