Trafford Street 'Tea Room'

The Trafford Street Tea Room sits atop a small former factory building in a back street in Brunswick like an alien spaceship ready to zoom off into the sky at a moments notice. The Tea Room acts as the social focal point to the blokes at the Trafford Street "shed" as they work away restoring motorbikes and cars. The Tea Room also plays with the imagery of the often striking, but often unconsidered shapes of industrial rooftop plant and equipment, and is propped up by the "V" of twin steel struts which recall the works of both 19th Century French Gothic Revivalist Violette Le Duc and 20th Century Australian arch Post-Modernist Peter Corrigan.
